Go along the East River or Fox River Trail for runs. The Fox River Trail is better-maintained, so don't run on the East River trail after a snowstorm or when there's flooding. There are a lot of suburbs with sidewalks you can also run in.
Baird Creek is nearby - it has a short (about 0.5-0.75 mi) paved path and a ton of paths in the woods. UW campus is a little bit of a drive, but has really nice woodchip running trails.
